Restaurant cooks prepare and cook appetizers, entrees, and desserts for restaurant patrons, usually under the direction of a chef or sous chef.

Ordinary duties vary depending on the size of the restaurant, but they may include:
• Preparing a range of dishes using a variety of cooking techniques
• Ensuring all ingredients are fresh and fit for human consumption
• Cleaning and sanitizing kitchen work area.
